Front of House / Runner


Brief description:

The position of Catering Assistant Front of House service will consists of serving food and drinks to the customers.  In addition, the work will involve helping out in the kitchen – serving of food and supporting the chef when the need arises.  The majority of the work involves sales of FOOD products (food and drinks) to its customers.

Tasks General Responsibilities:

You are expected to:

  • Organize your time and work without continuous supervision. General clean-up is also required during and after completion of shift.
  • Have pride in your work, work to a high standard and provide a high level of service.
  • Respect the privacy of customers and colleagues.
  • Adhere to the Dress Code/Uniform Policies: e.g. short natural clean nails, uniforms royal blue hair net, royal blue or yellow polo shirts with plain jeans or black pants must be worn every day. Sleeveless tops, t’shirts, leggings, track suits tops or bottoms and clothes exposing skin are NOT
  • Work in a safe and conscientious manner, observing health and safety requirements, gloves are to be changed or hand washed appropriately (especially after stocking drinks in fridge) including those relating to Food Handling and Fire regulations.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Observe and follow all legislative Health and Hygiene practices and policy for the company.
  • Familiarize yourself with OUR Caribbean Cuisine Procedures, menu and provide a friendly point of sale service to the Customers.
  • Ensure cleaning schedules are completed appropriately and routinely.
  • Clear, wash and store crockery, cutlery, glasses and equipment required during and by the end of each shift.
  • The Catering Assistant will clean tables and chairs, floor areas, throughout opening hours so as to maintain an excellent standard of hygiene.
  • Clean and maintain utensils and equipment.
  • Dispose of rubbish in the Paladin.
  • Restock Fridge regularly
  • Clean fridge regularly
  • Hose and wash yard (customer Area)
  • Prepare and serve meals within normal working hours at the shop.
  • Tidy store cupboard.
  • Ensure the appropriate storage of stock items and maintain stock levels in the Front of House.
  • Record and report low stock Level (immediately)

           Assist and deliver in the development of catering services.

  • Support, where possible, catering requirements outside normal working hours.
  • Meet, greet and assist our customers.
  • Any other task as directed by the duty Cook/Chef or supervisor, which are consistent with the aims of the post.
  • Will be required to do overtime as the needs arise.
  • Attempt to limit problems and liability related to customers’ excessive drinking: for example, persuading customers to stop drinking, ordering taxis or other transportation for intoxicated patrons;
  • Make Salads when required.
  • Tidy store cupboard.
  • Take food rders from serving staff or directly from patrons.

Qualifications and requirements:

  • High school Certificate, Diploma or equivalent;
  • Hygiene Certificate Level 2
  • Ability to communicate and listen. To assist other team members to carry out their duties.  Being professional in how you act or react to an issue and coming to an amicable resolution is an asset.

Working conditions:

Hours:                  Part-time, flexible hours of work – day time, evenings and weekends.

Flexibility is required to suit changes to the work.

Pay:                       National Minimum Wage (NMW) rates (subject to progression)

Place of work:   South East London.

Reporting to the Manager but supervised on a daily basis by the Manager / Assistant Manager or Head/Duty Chef.

As part of the Catering team you will be responsible for providing Front of House food and beverage service to Customers. The Catering Assistant will be expected to be present during events and assist with the preparation leading up to those events. The Catering Assistant will need to be flexible in regards to shift times changes and increasing hours.

The Catering Assistant will need to have good food serving experience.  Presentation skills and be willing to train in areas to enhance their skills. The Catering Assistant should be willing to undertake basic food hygiene and Health & safety Training.

At times the Catering Assistant will be solely responsible for the smooth running of Front of House  / Runner job and will therefore need to be confident and have the relevant language skills (fluency in English) to deliver the required service to the customers.

It is expected that you will have a flexible approach to working hours.

No Lunch break between 11:30 – 2:30 as these are our Peak Hours.
