Senior Nurse Post in Romsey

One of our clients (A well reputed Nursing Home) is recruiting urgently basis a Senior Nurse (RGN) for their nursing home in Romsey, Hampshire.

Person Description:

 Must be a registered nurse with UK qualifications and experience and be familiar with current regulations.

 Needs to be able to demonstrate experience in elderly care.

 Experienced at senior level is not essential as training will be given.

 Must be self motivated.

 Should show strong leadership and communication skills.

In the absence of the Manager/Matron the person will be in charge of client care and efficient management of the nursing and care home.

Responsibilities

 To be on call in the absence of Matron.

 To assist in taking overall responsibility for the smooth running of the home.

 To assist in the planning, implementation, evaluation and supervision of individual client care.

 To maintain the highest possible standards of quality care. Also acting as an advocate for client’s right to risks and choice.

 Ensure total confidentiality for clients and other matters as appropriate. Follow up any client/relative’s concern and or complaints; deal with matters as necessary following regulations.

 Maintain effective communication and rapport with team members.

 To assist the Matron to continue and progress with ongoing professional development.

 Support/assist team members develop and extend their knowledge and skills.

 under the supervision of the Matron, to allocate and monitor qualified staff, care assistants and other ancillary staff in their roles within the home and supervise the same. to deal with staff complaints and grievances in the first instance.

 To assist in the general management of all staff.

 in the absence of the Matron, following recruitment of new staff, assist in the provision of Induction/Foundation.

To follow up client enquiries for placement of clients and ensure that vacancies are filled as soon as possible and assist in the pre-admission assessments.

 To keep up to date with new regulations on care standards and ensure that the home meets the standards required at all times.

 To ensure that the Health Authority and Social Services guidelines are adhered to.

 To liaise with outside agencies.

 Working weekend shifts on a rota basis.

Accountability

 Accountable for your own actions under the NMC ruling.

 Responsible to Matron/Directors

General Duties

 To use her/his best endeavours to ensure that the good reputation of the Home and the atmosphere within it is maintained.

 To clean and sterilise equipment and surfaces as necessary.

 To assist with general cleaning and tidying duties such as bed making, cleaning, dusting, clearing after meals etc.,

 To help service meals and make teas and snacks – washing dishes as necessary.

 To help maintain a healthy and safe environment in the Home and to report all incidents to the senior nurse in charge.

 To take special precautions when on night duty including regular checks on residents.

 To assist as necessary with the laundry, ironing of clothes and any mending required.

 To take part in training activities.

 To maintain a clean and tidy appearance whenever in Durban House uniform.

 Any other duties reasonably requested by Matron, Deputy Matron, Nurse in charge/appointed supervisor or by the Directors.

Health and Safety

  1. To ensure that all staff members in your shift comply with the health and safety legislation and follow the company s safe working policies and procedures.
  2. To maintain such log books, checks on the building and risk assessments as according to the health and safety regulations and the company policies and procedures.
  3. To notify the handyman and manager, or in her absence the Deputy or Director, over the want of repair or condition of equipment, hazards and furniture and to call out relevant engineers or contractors for any emergencies.
  4. To assist with fire drills as necessary and to ensure that all staff members are fully aware of the fire procedure and the contingency plan.
  5. Report immediately to the person in charge or to the manger any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a service user or a member of staff or public within the building.
  6. To be aware of all the regulations/legislations under health and safety at work act e.g. COSHH, LOLER, PUWER, and manual handling regulation operation 1992
