JOB SUMMARY ACTIVITIEIS COORDINATOR

To contribute to the pleasant environment of the Home with a particular remit for involving the residents in a variety of activities designed to address a wide range of interests and varied limitations on physical and mental agility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF ACTIVITIEIS COORDINATOR

Organise varied activities within the Home to cater for a variety of interests for small groups and large numbers of residents, including games, crafts, parties, entertainment and outings, encouraging relatives and visitors to be involved.

  • Arrange trips and excursions with varied destinations and purposes to involve as many residents in activity outside the confines of the Home as possible.
  • Undertake fundraising activity for the Residents’ Fund.
  • Participate as an active member of the Residents’ Committee for Activities.
  • Understand personal responsibilities in relation to the Health & Safety at Work legislation, fire and safety and evacuation procedures and be aware of the need to provide a safe and healthy environment for residents, particularly with regard to external activities.
  • Act accordingly towards residents and their visitors, respecting the dignity and individuality of each resident.
  • Contribute fully to team working, and be aware of the care-staff routines necessary to provide continuity of service to residents.
  • Ensure supplies and equipment are stored in a safe and tidy manner.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Knowledge & Qualifications

  • Demonstrate understanding of the role social interaction plays in the general well-being of people.
  • Previous involvement in voluntary or community activities and roles.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety, particularly Moving and Handling techniques, and COSHH assessments.
  • Hold or work towards achieving NVQ Level 2 in Support Services in Healthcare.
