Delivery Driver – Key Responsibilities
- • Operate delivery vehicles safely and efficiently while adhering to all traffic laws and London congestion charging regulations• Deliver packages and goods to customers in the E16 postal area within scheduled timeframes• Plan optimal routes to maximize deliveries and minimize fuel consumption and travel time• Load and unload goods from delivery vehicles ensuring proper handling and protection of items• Obtain customer signatures and record proof of delivery using handheld devices or mobile applications
• Maintain accurate delivery records and documentation for all transactions
• Communicate with customers regarding delivery times and any scheduling issues or delays
• Perform routine vehicle maintenance checks including fuel, oil, tire pressure and cleanliness
• Navigate busy London traffic and narrow streets while maintaining safety standards
• Handle customer inquiries and complaints professionally and courteously
• Sort and organize packages before departure to ensure efficient delivery sequence
• Report any vehicle damage or maintenance issues to management immediately
• Comply with health and safety regulations and company delivery policies
• Meet daily and weekly delivery targets and KPIs
• Maintain professional appearance and represent the company positively to customers
• Secure and lock vehicles when unattended to prevent theft or damage
• Adapt to weather conditions and challenging delivery environments across East London
• Communicate with dispatch team regarding delivery progress and any obstacles encountered
What We're Looking For
Essential Requirements
• Must hold a valid UK driving license with at least 2 years experience
• Full UK or EU driving license category B minimum
• Enhanced DBS check clearance required
• Reliable vehicle in good working condition or use of employer's van
• Valid insurance and vehicle tax documentation
• Knowledge of London roads and postcode system
• Ability to lift and carry packages up to 25kg regularly
• Excellent time management and route planning skills
• Professional customer service and communication abilities
• Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends
• Full driving license clean record with no major convictions
• Smartphone or tablet for delivery tracking systems
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Desirable Experience
• 5+ years of professional delivery driving experience in London or similar urban areas
• Full clean UK driving licence with no more than 3 penalty points
• Advanced knowledge of London's road networks, particularly East London and E16 postcode areas
• Excellent time management and ability to complete 40-60 deliveries per day
• Proven track record of maintaining 95%+ on-time delivery rate
• Experience with vehicle maintenance and pre-delivery safety checks
• Proficiency with GPS navigation systems and delivery management software
• Strong customer service skills with ability to communicate professionally
• Experience handling various package types and weights
• Valid MOT and insurance documentation
• CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) or equivalent if applicable
• Flexibility to work early starts, late finishes, and occasional weekend shifts
• Experience in high-density residential areas with multi-floor buildings
• Knowledge of parking restrictions and congestion charge zones in London
• Previous experience with e-commerce delivery companies like Amazon, Hermes, or DPD
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Clean background check with no criminal convictions related to driving or violence
• Excellent verbal communication in English
• Physical capability to lift packages up to 25kg regularly
• Experience documenting deliveries with digital signatures and photographic evidence
• Familiarity with health and safety protocols and PPE requirements
