Cherry Picker – Key Responsibilities

• • Select and pick ripe cherries from trees using appropriate techniques to maximize yield and minimize damage to fruit• Operate cherry picking equipment and machinery safely and in accordance with health and safety regulations• Inspect cherries for quality and ripeness before harvesting to ensure only suitable produce is picked• Sort and grade cherries by size and quality standards as required by the employer

  • Place harvested cherries into containers or crates in an organized manner to prevent bruising

  • Transport full containers of cherries to designated collection points or storage areas

  • Monitor weather conditions and adjust picking schedules accordingly to protect crop quality

  • Maintain picking equipment and report any malfunctions or damage to supervisors

  • Work efficiently to meet daily picking targets and production quotas

  • Follow food safety and hygiene standards during the harvesting process

  • Communicate with team members and supervisors regarding progress and any issues encountered

  • Climb ladders and work at heights safely while carrying equipment and collected produce

  • Remove damaged, diseased, or unripe cherries to maintain product quality standards

  • Assist with training new team members on picking techniques and safety procedures
