Recycling Operative – Key Responsibilities

• • Operate and maintain recycling equipment and machinery at the waste management facility in Barking• Sort and separate recyclable materials including paper, cardboard, plastics, metals and glass according to facility guidelines• Monitor conveyor belts and sorting lines to ensure efficient material flow and identify contaminated items• Load and unload recyclable materials from delivery vehicles and transport waste containers

  • Maintain accurate records of material quantities processed and daily production output

  • Inspect incoming waste for hazardous or non-recyclable items and remove them appropriately

  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of work areas to maintain health and safety standards

  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment including gloves, hard hats and safety vests at all times

  • Report equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to supervisors immediately

  • Comply with environmental regulations and waste management protocols specific to the Barking facility
