This is a pivotal support role where you will work under the supervision of registered nurses and senior carers to deliver essential, person-centred care to patients and service users.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Provide direct personal care to patients, including assistance with washing, dressing, toileting, and maintaining dignity.
  • Support with mobility, using appropriate aids and techniques, and assist with turning and repositioning patients to prevent pressure ulcers.
  • Monitor and record basic observations such as temperature, pulse, respiration, and weight, reporting any changes to senior staff.
  • Assist with meal preparation, feeding, and hydration, ensuring dietary needs and preferences are met.

  • Maintain clean, safe, and tidy clinical and residential environments, adhering to strict infection control protocols.
  • Accompany patients to appointments or activities within the healthcare facility.
  • Handle clinical waste appropriately, following procedures similar to those a Refuse / Waste Operative would follow in a specialised context.

Essential Skills & Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Healthcare Assistant, Support Worker, or in a similar caring role. Relevant NVQ/Diploma Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care is a strong advantage.
  • A genuine passion for caring for others, with exceptional empathy, patience, and communication skills.
  • The physical ability to perform manual handling tasks and be on your feet for extended periods.
  • Excellent understanding of care plans, confidentiality (GDPR), and safeguarding principles.
  • Up-to-date with mandatory training (e.g., Moving & Handling, Basic Life Support, Infection Control).
  • Eligibility to work in the UK, and a willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check (which we can facilitate).
  • While not essential, experience in specialist areas like dementia care, mental health, or learning disabilities is highly desirable.
