Traffic Marshall β Key Responsibilities
- β’ Direct and control vehicle movements on site to ensure safe and efficient traffic flowβ’ Monitor all entry and exit points to the construction site and adjacent public roadsβ’ Conduct daily safety briefings and communicate traffic management procedures to all site personnelβ’ Check and verify that all vehicles meet safety requirements before permitting access to the siteβ’ Manage parking areas and ensure vehicles are parked in designated zones only
β’ Enforce speed limits and traffic regulations within the site boundaries
β’ Coordinate with crane operators and other equipment handlers to facilitate safe movements
β’ Respond immediately to traffic incidents or accidents and provide assistance to injured parties
β’ Maintain clear signage and road markings throughout the site access routes
β’ Keep detailed records of daily traffic incidents, near misses and safety violations
β’ Conduct regular inspections of traffic control equipment including signs, barriers and cones
β’ Liaise with local authorities and police regarding any traffic disruptions or road closures
β’ Communicate with site managers about traffic related issues and recommended improvements
β’ Ensure compliance with Health and Safety at Work regulations and site specific traffic management plans
β’ Provide traffic updates to the control room and relevant departments on a regular basis
β’ Manage queue systems during peak traffic periods to prevent congestion and delays
β’ Train and supervise junior traffic personnel and contractors on traffic procedures
β’ Maintain professional standards and provide courteous assistance to all site visitors
β’ Conduct toolbox talks on traffic safety topics to reinforce safe working practices
β’ Update and maintain traffic management procedures based on site changes and operational requirements
